After many years of development, we now offer for sale our CANDAT canine information management system for IBM Personal computers and compatibles.

Candat enables one to create, maintain and use a large canine data base for pedigree generation, kennel records and many other services. Information on thousands of dogs is at one's finger tips, instantly available for reference. Pedigrees of virtually any number of generations, in diverse, user selected formats, are easily created on the screen, on your printer or in a disk file.

Candat is a modern mouse and menu driven system which provides an intuitive, user friendly environment. For those even moderately familiar with mouse driven software, the manual is almost unnecessary.

Most users initially desire a quick, powerful means of creating pedigree charts. But they quickly find that the search tools, the procedures for identifying certain specific sets of dogs, makes the system most useful in diverse contexts.

Searching Candat allows one to identify dogs for search and listing in several ways:

This means one can display on the screen (or place on the printer or in a disk file) a list of all Dutch Champions, all dogs with Schutzhund titles or all dogs whose AKC number begins with a certain sequence. Or any dog with "Marc" or "Flandersfield" in his name.

Sorting No matter what order you happen to enter dogs in, the system will, at your command, sort them:

Thus you can print out a complete list in alphabetic order and make your own breed reference book. But you can also print the dogs out in registration number order when that is convenient.

Progeny Display While the pedigree operation displays the ancestors of a dog, the system also works the other way, that is, will display on the screen, list out to a file or to a printer all of the progeny of the dog, for as many generations as you might desire. These features are of course a great aid to the breeder seeking to find all of the offspring of a particular stud dog or brood bitch.

A "Screen Box Progeny Display" system shows all of the progeny of a particular dog, along with ancillary information, including the other parent. Click on a dog and its progeny appear. Click on the special "Go-Last" command pad and the previous box for the last dog reappears. This mechanism allows one to go back and forth as many generations as desired, all with a few easy mouse clicks.

Ancestry Analysis Candat will search out a particular dog in a pedigree and display how many times it appears in each generation, the percentage genetic contribution from that generation and the aggregate total genetic contribution from the target dog. It will also create charts with the percentage genetic contribution for all the dogs for a specified number of generations, and search out and compute percentage representation of the ultimate ancestors, even if they are twenty generations back.

Kennel Record Keeping In addition to pedigree generation, Candat can keep complete breeding records. Each litter can be defined designating sire, dam, birth date, breeder and other common information and then individual information including owner, description and status for the individual pups. These litter records can be printed out and inserted in a binder, producing a continually up to date record of your kennel's breeding program, suitable as AKC or CKC records.

Also, customized litter announcements can be quickly and easily generated.

National Registration Records Much of the power of the system is due to careful handling of national registration information. One entry, or more if the dog has been registered in several nations, is saved in a separate field for rapid search and selection.

All forms of displayed output, that is, pedigrees, lists and progeny information, can be directed to the screen, to your printer, or to a disk file for further review and processing.

The ability to create a disk file is a great convenience, since it allows one to load pedigree charts or lists of dogs into a text editor or word processor and thus incorporate them into a book, article or advertisement. This capability also allows convenient inclusion of information such as the breeder, owner and competitive record of the dog.

The Candat system can maintain, update and use any number of Canine data bases, which are read from and written to disk files.
